Transitions & Reflections

A lot has happened since our last update. We went from being a family of 3 to a family of 4, Thato traveled to Cape Town for a student missions trip, and we had the opportunity to be a part of our church's missions conference.

Welcoming Baby Aria

On August 6, we welcomed our precious Aria Nyakallo (meaning 'joy' in Sotho) into the world! We are so thankful to the Lord for a smooth delivery and a beautiful, healthy baby girl. She really has brought much joy to our family and her big sister loves her. Shortly after Aria's birth, my parents were able to come visit from the Bahamas to enjoy some time with their newest grandbaby. We had a great time with boh of our famies as they helped us settle a bit into the new normal but it was very special to bond and do things with family as we celebrated Aria’s arrival.

Once my family left, we learned to adjust to our new normal as a family of 4. It definitely took some getting used to but we are grateful to the Lord for helping us through this time of adjustment. We continue to seek his wisdom as we seek to balance life, family and ministry and ask that you continue to pray for us with this.

SMASH Cape Town

Students Ministering and Serving Him

Fast forward to now in October we traveled to Cape Town for a student missions trip where we partner with local churches around Joburg to take the teens to a different province to go and share their faith and partner with the churches we work with there. This year we continued our partnership with Community Baptist Church in Blue Downs to do a Holiday Bible Club, Youth combined and community outreach. For the Holiday Bible Club we ministered to 150-169 kids, for Youth combined we ministered to plus minus 50 teens, and with the community outreach we ministered to 320 people with the gospel of Christ. Altogether we were able to witness 107 people place their trust in Christ. It was a great time of ministry and awesome to see the students serving and step outside of their comfort zones to reach others for Christ.

What stood out for me is the partnership that we have with the church, CBC, and the fact that even their church members were part of everything and we are thankful for that. To see people caring for their community so that they would hear the gospel of Jesus Christ is a huge encouragement. Please pray for the church as they continue with the follow up which is so important because it leads to discipleship and that is when people grow in Jesus Christ.

Staff Retreat

In September our team of staff and interns from both Joburg and Durban gathered together for our staff retreat. It was a wonderful time together reconnecting as a team, brainstorming regarding our various ministries and being refreshed in our walks with the Lord. Not to mention enjoying the beautiful view together! We are so thankful to the Lord for the team he has placed us in.

Missions Conference

This past weekend, our home church held their annual missions conference where we had the opportunity to share an update on our ministry and all the Lord is doing. It was and encouraging time to hear what the Lord is doing through other missionaries as well and be challenged and encouraged through God's word as we seek to continue to serve him in obedience and surrender. We were also struck again by how grateful we are for the people and churches that partner with us and support us in ministry. It is such an incredible blessing from the Lord.

We are so thankful for your love, care, encouragement and involvement in our ministry and pray that the Lord continues to bless you and use you to further his kingdom!

Please Pray...

- For wisdom as we continue to adjust to being a family of 4

- That our team and students would finish the year well.

- For Ashley to receive her visa quickly.

- upcoming summer camps (2-8 December)

- praise: the Lord is growing our team! We will be welcoming Michelle to come serve with us from the US  in January
