Whirlwind

This past month had its ups and downs but we are grateful that God is always in control even when our plans change. In the first week of May we had planned to welcome a missions team of students from the Word of Life Bible Institute in New York that was coming to serve with us for a week but had to cancel everything last minute due to severe flooding that took place in Durban in April. Because of the flooding, there was not enough jet fuel at one of our airports and the airline canceled the flight. Due to time and budget constraints. the team decided to head to the Dominican Republic instead. So through all of that, we had the opportunity to move in to our new home and had some extra time to settle in. The rest of the month was spent preparing for all the exciting events we have had recently and the ones coming up. In addition to that, we have been busy with our weekly ministries at WOLZA and at our church as well as getting paperwork sorted for Ashley's visa application as her current one expires the end of June.

WOW Conference

On June 11 we held our first Women of Worth Conference for the year. This year looked a bit different as half of our staff is either away on furlough or awaiting visas to return to South Africa. This meant that much of the responsibility of planning and organising the conference fell on my (Ashley) shoulders. I am so grateful though for our four amazing female interns and part-time staff for working so well together as a team and stepping up to lead in different ways. It was such a blessing to see how the Lord helped us pull together with the limited people and resources we had with the same goal of seeing women come to know Him more. This year, we had ladies from 20 different churches coming together with a total of 62 ladies. This year's theme was 'Seen, not Forgotten: a look into the life of Leah'. We had 3 different speakers share on different aspects of Leah's life: the historical background of Leah's life and culture, what it looks like to find your true worth in Christ, and how to deal with hurts, pain and rejection. It was such an encouraging day together and many of the ladies shared how the time together blessed them.

Last week we welcomed our 2 American interns who came as a part of the Cross-Cultural Internship Program (the same program Ashley was a part of when she first came). We are so excited to finally have them here for the next few months and our hope and prayer is for them to return for all of next year once their visas and support raising is sorted.

Teaching & Training

During the month of May and beginning of June I (Thato) had an opportunity to teach the book of Romans to our students that are attending the Genesis program for a week. It is always a privilege to teach because it always keeps me on my toes as I study and prepare and learn alongside the students.

On June 16 we celebrated Youth Day (a holiday in South Africa) and I went down to Potchefstroom to teach a group of youth leaders at True Word Bible church where one of our alumni pastors. We had 4 different churches present and we had around 40 attend the training. Because the church is in a township, there are always kids who would come and want to join in on the program but this time I had Nhlanhla and Katleho (2 of our staff/interns) help with the kids program to play with them and teach from the word of God. It was a great day of ministry and teaching. Please continue to pray for True Word Bible Church as they continue to reach out to adults to join the church. Pray for Pastor Lance to continue to be consistent in reaching out to the community through different programs. Pray that he continues to grow for his love for the community and love for our Lord and Savior.

We are so thankful for your love, care, encouragement and involvement in our ministry. It is such a blessing! We pray that the Lord continues to bless you and use you to further his kingdom!

Please Pray...

- For wisdom and faithfulness in each of the ministries we are a part of both with WOL and at our church

- Satellite Camp in Pufontein (June 27-July 1)

- Upcoming SMASH missions trip to Port Shepstone (July 2-9)

- For a continued healthy pregnancy

- For Ashley to recive her visa quickly. She is applying on June 30, the day her current visa expires.

- for students and interns as they serve at camp and SMASH
