Front Row Seat

It's been a busy (in a good way) month with lots of activity including a missions trip to Hazyview, Mpumalanga and another women's conference. We really are so thankful for these different opportunities and a front-row seat to His work in people's lives.

SMASH Hazyview

This was the first time we had the opportunity to take a SMASH team to Hazyview, Mpumalanga. We were serving with one of our associates Xolani, who is also a DTC alumni, at his home church. During our time there, we had a great time serving through KYB (Know Your Bible) for kids which we were able to have at two different locations. One was at Xolani's church and the other was at Mkhuhlu (about 30 minutes away) at a different church that we are building a relationship with. We had a privilege of ministering to almost 95-100 kids in both places combined. We also had the opportunity to do house to house evangelism at Mkhuhlu as well as have a ladies gathering where Ashley had the opportunity to share with the ladies. It was such an encouraging time for them to get together after such a long time and be encouraged in God's Word together. We are thankful to the Lord that 21 kids made the decision to trust Christ as their personal Saviour! The DTC students and interns did a great job while ministering and it was so exciting to see the Lord use them. Please continue to pray for us as we try and build more relationships with different churches down in Mpumalanga so that we can reach more communities and youth with the gospel.
















WOW Conference (Part 2)

This past Saturday, we held our second Woman of Worth Conference of the year. It was such a wonderful time as we gathered with ladies from 19 different churches for a time of encouragement, refreshment and fellowship. We are thankful for the opportunity to bring ladies from all different walks of life together with a united purpose of growing deeper in our walks with the Lord. We look forward to our final conference of the year this Saturday and excited to see how the Lord will use it.















We are so thankful for your love, care, encouragement and involvement in our ministry. It is such a blessing! We pray that the Lord continues to bless you and use you to further his kingdom!

- that we, along with the rest of the staff, interns and students would finish the year well

- for us to continue to grow in our marriage and as parents

- that those the Lord has chosen to add to our team would be able to get the visas & support they need

- that we would be faithful in all God has entrusted to us

Camps Near & Far

It’s been a while since our last update and so much has happened since we arrived back from furlough. Thato took a trip to Zimbabwe to help with some camps alongside the WOL Zim team, we assisted with our church’s Holiday Bible Club (VBS) as well as a winter camp alongside one of the churches we partner with in the East Rand.    Our team also continued with our annual camps happening at Potchefstroom (True Word Bible Church) and Mozambique (Trichardt School). The biggest thing that has happened over these past few months though it that we welcomed our third baby girl, Aliyah Mphonyana (translated ‘little gift’ in Sotho) 3 weeks early. We are thankful for the smooth delivery of our sweet Aliyah on Thato’s birthday (June 4) The pastors cooking for the campers Zimbabwe I had a privilege to go to Zimbabwe after coming back from furlough to help teach at camp. There & Back Again

It's been a month now since we returned to South Africa and have been settling back into a normal rhythm. We are so thankful for the time we had on furlough to reconnect with friends, family and supporters. It really was such an encouraging time and though it was quite busy with lots of traveling, it was also refreshing. We started out our time with some downtime with our family over the Christmas holidays. It was a wonderful and special time especially since it was the last time we were able to spend with Ashley's Pop Pop before he went home to be with the Lord in March.  We officially began our furlough the first week of January as we caught up with friends and supporters and shared in churches in Abaco, Spanish Wells and Nassau (3 different islands). We were so overwhelmed by the love, generosity and care we felt as we visited with different people and churches. Weeping & Rejoicing

The Lord gives & the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. This last month has held some really high highs and some really low lows. There has been weeping and rejoicing. But through it all, we continue to say through tears and smiles, "blessed be the name of the Lord". Just a few weeks ago, Thato and I joyfully received the news that in less than 7 months, we would become parents to our first baby. We were ecstatic and so thankful for this gift the Lord had given us. However, the excitement was short lived. Just 5 days after discovering I was pregnant, we were told by the doctor that we had a miscarriage. Though we had only known about the pregnancy for less than a week, we were devastated to hear that we had lost our baby. We struggled to understand exactly why the Lord had allowed this but we continued to trust that He is good and faithful and that he would use it for our good and His glory.
