So much exciting ministry took place during the month of June from camps, to missions trips and lots of kids ministry. It has been a blessing to be a part of all the Lord is doing in 3 different provinces. We are thankful for the opportunities to work alongside several local churches, including our own, in order to help their ministries continue to grow to reach more people for Christ!

Satellite Camp

Thank you for the prayers while we where at Potchefstroom. What a great weekend for a Satellite camp that side. We were at True Word Bible Church working alongside the pastor who is an alumni of the DTC program. I was his discipler during his year at Word of Life. It’s been great to see what the Lord is doing through him with the church plant in Potch. There was 46 kids the Friday when we arrived and on Saturday we had 60 +- who came to the camp. 12 got saved. Please be praying for Pastor Lance as he reaches this community for Christ and that he will train others to in his community to reach the community effectively.


Holiday Bible Club

During the last week of June, our church held their annual Holiday Bible Club. Thato had the opportunity to lead the games crew as well as act in the daily skits while I had the opportunity to be a group leader to grade 4 girls. It was a great time of serving alongside our church and reaching the community through the kids. Overall, we had between 180-200 kids each day and on the last day many of the parents came in the evening to see all their kids had learned.

SMASH Port Shepstone

We had awesome time last week in Port Shepstone with the SMASH team working again alongside Port Shepstone Baptist Church. During our time there, we did a 3 day Holiday Bible Club, some evangelism in the community and a Women's Conference. For most of the students, this was their first SMASH trip. What a blessing to see them step out of their comfort zones in order to minister and serve. It was especially exciting to have a number of the teens from our youth group also on the trip for the first time. The whole team did a fantastic job and learnt many valuable lessons along the way as they stepped out in faith and saw the Lord at work. We had the opportunity to minister to +-60 kids at the Holiday Bible Club and were able to witness to 58 people. Praise the Lord, we saw 21 people in total come to trust Christ as their Savior! We pray that the Lord continues to use our ministry to grow this church of mostly elderly into a thriving and vibrant community of believers.

 We pray that the Lord continues to multiply the impact of our ministry as He uses those we have ministered to and with in order to reach others for Christ!

 - that we would be faithful in ministry & rely on the Lord.

- that the Lord would provide the remainder of our support

- that we would grow in our marriage & personal walks with the Lord

- Student Fusion (student missions) group coming from the States (July 12-23)

- that the Lord would continue to work in the lives of those who came on SMASH as well as those we had the opportunity to minister to

Camps Near & Far

It’s been a while since our last update and so much has happened since we arrived back from furlough. Thato took a trip to Zimbabwe to help with some camps alongside the WOL Zim team, we assisted with our church’s Holiday Bible Club (VBS) as well as a winter camp alongside one of the churches we partner with in the East Rand.    Our team also continued with our annual camps happening at Potchefstroom (True Word Bible Church) and Mozambique (Trichardt School). The biggest thing that has happened over these past few months though it that we welcomed our third baby girl, Aliyah Mphonyana (translated ‘little gift’ in Sotho) 3 weeks early. We are thankful for the smooth delivery of our sweet Aliyah on Thato’s birthday (June 4) The pastors cooking for the campers Zimbabwe I had a privilege to go to Zimbabwe after coming back from furlough to help teach at camp. There & Back Again

It's been a month now since we returned to South Africa and have been settling back into a normal rhythm. We are so thankful for the time we had on furlough to reconnect with friends, family and supporters. It really was such an encouraging time and though it was quite busy with lots of traveling, it was also refreshing. We started out our time with some downtime with our family over the Christmas holidays. It was a wonderful and special time especially since it was the last time we were able to spend with Ashley's Pop Pop before he went home to be with the Lord in March.  We officially began our furlough the first week of January as we caught up with friends and supporters and shared in churches in Abaco, Spanish Wells and Nassau (3 different islands). We were so overwhelmed by the love, generosity and care we felt as we visited with different people and churches. Weeping & Rejoicing

The Lord gives & the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. This last month has held some really high highs and some really low lows. There has been weeping and rejoicing. But through it all, we continue to say through tears and smiles, "blessed be the name of the Lord". Just a few weeks ago, Thato and I joyfully received the news that in less than 7 months, we would become parents to our first baby. We were ecstatic and so thankful for this gift the Lord had given us. However, the excitement was short lived. Just 5 days after discovering I was pregnant, we were told by the doctor that we had a miscarriage. Though we had only known about the pregnancy for less than a week, we were devastated to hear that we had lost our baby. We struggled to understand exactly why the Lord had allowed this but we continued to trust that He is good and faithful and that he would use it for our good and His glory.
