Sweet Blessings

During the month of May, we had the privilege of spending three weeks in the States to be a part of two of our dear friend's weddings as well as spend some time with family and connect with some churches for support raising. We are beyond grateful to have been able to make this trip and to catch up with family and friends as well as be able to expand our support team. What a sweet blessing from the Lord it was.

Ashley: The wedding extravaganza began in Florida where we celebrated the marriage of one of my best friends from my time at Word of Life Bible Institute. What a sweet blessing to stand beside her on this special day as well as be able to spend time with other dear friends from my WOLBI days.

Thato: It has been great being involved in our friends lives by celebrating their new journey of life. I had the privilege of being a part of Kyle Paradis's (former missionary in South Africa and close friend) wedding and look forward to what the Lord is going to do in his and Natalie's marriage. Thankful to the Lord I could be part of the celebration of their special day.

In between weddings, we spent some great time with family including a wedding shower for our brother and his fiance, Rachel, who are getting married in August. So thankful to be able to see a number of our extended family as well at the celebration.












WOW Conference

This past Saturday, we held our annual Woman of Worth Conference. Our theme for this year's conference was Legacy of the Redeemed. We looked at four different women from Jesus' lineage (Tamar, Rahab, Bathsheba, & Mary) and how God redeemed their lives and stories for his glory. It was such a sweet time of fellowship and encouragement from God's Word and we thank the Lord for each of the 80+ ladies that attended. We plan to hold another Woman of Worth Conference in October at a different location in Joburg for those who were unable to attend the first one. We look forward to seeing the ladies he will bring to the next one and thank him for the opportunity to minister to so many women.

The next two months will be action-packed as we have a Satellite Camp as well as two missions trips coming up both coming into and out of South Africa. We look forward to the many opportunities and ask that you pray for us as we will be leading these various ministries.
We are grateful for your prayers, support & encouragement as we continue serving Him.

Camps Near & Far

It’s been a while since our last update and so much has happened since we arrived back from furlough. Thato took a trip to Zimbabwe to help with some camps alongside the WOL Zim team, we assisted with our church’s Holiday Bible Club (VBS) as well as a winter camp alongside one of the churches we partner with in the East Rand.    Our team also continued with our annual camps happening at Potchefstroom (True Word Bible Church) and Mozambique (Trichardt School). The biggest thing that has happened over these past few months though it that we welcomed our third baby girl, Aliyah Mphonyana (translated ‘little gift’ in Sotho) 3 weeks early. There & Back Again

It's been a month now since we returned to South Africa and have been settling back into a normal rhythm. We are so thankful for the time we had on furlough to reconnect with friends, family and supporters. It really was such an encouraging time and though it was quite busy with lots of traveling, it was also refreshing. We started out our time with some downtime with our family over the Christmas holidays. It was a wonderful and special time especially since it was the last time we were able to spend with Ashley's Pop Pop before he went home to be with the Lord in March.  We officially began our furlough the first week of January as we caught up with friends and supporters and shared in churches in Abaco, Spanish Wells and Nassau (3 different islands). We were so overwhelmed by the love, generosity and care we felt as we visited with different people and churches. Weeping & Rejoicing

The Lord gives & the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. This last month has held some really high highs and some really low lows. There has been weeping and rejoicing. But through it all, we continue to say through tears and smiles, "blessed be the name of the Lord". Just a few weeks ago, Thato and I joyfully received the news that in less than 7 months, we would become parents to our first baby. We were ecstatic and so thankful for this gift the Lord had given us. However, the excitement was short lived. Just 5 days after discovering I was pregnant, we were told by the doctor that we had a miscarriage. Though we had only known about the pregnancy for less than a week, we were devastated to hear that we had lost our baby. We struggled to understand exactly why the Lord had allowed this but we continued to trust that He is good and faithful and that he would use it for our good and His glory.
