Back in the SAddle

Settling In

Yesterday made one month since I landed on South African soil once again. It has been such a joy & blessing to see how the Lord has provided for me to come back & how he has continued to work during my short time back. It has been so good to catch up with different people, get to know this year’s students, & jump back into all the ministries taking place. For the remainder of this year, in addition to discipleship & weekly high school ministries, I have the opportunity to be a part of the team organizing & overseeing our different camps & missions trips. This year holds lots of firsts in this department as doors continue to open up in different places & I’m so thankful for the privilege of being a part of it & look forward to seeing how the Lord works through it.

First Ever Satellite Camp!

Two weekends ago, we held our first ever satellite camp in Potchefstroom, about 2 hours away. Our goal in this was to take the summer camp experience to those who are unable to travel the distance to attend. We started out the first day with over 50 teens from 3 different churches. The second day grew to 110 teens & children as we invited more in from the surrounding community. The theme of our camp was ‘Identity’. With each of the messages, we had the opportunity to do small groups. On the first day, we shared the gospel & as I spoke with the girls in my small group, I found that though they trusted in Christ, they were unsure that they would go to heaven. When I asked why, they said that only God is the one who knows whether or not we are going. I shared with them how the Lord does not want to keep us guessing about where we stand but be assured that we can go to heaven simply because of our faith in Him. The girls were so relieved to hear this truth & by the end of our conversation, they all, with smiles on their faces, proclaimed their assurance through Christ! The Lord continued to use those messages & small group times in big ways as the girls brought up different challenges they were facing in relation to their identity & walks with the Lord. What a privilege it was to point them towards truth & see the Lord confirm those things in their hearts. During those 2 days, we saw 28 trust Christ as their Savior! It was so encouraging to see the pastors & leaders of the different churches so excited about how God had used this camp in these teens & kid’s lives & were enthusiastic about us returning for future camps & ministries.

WOW Conference

This past Saturday, we held our annual Women of Worth Conference with about 130 in attendance. This year, we had many ladies who were attending for the very first time & some who had traveled from as far as 3 hours away for the conference! Many ladies commented on how encouraged they were as they had the opportunity to fellowship with other women from different places & backgrounds & hear several messages about radical sacrifice through the life of Hannah. We are excited about how the Lord is growing our women’s ministry & look forward to taking this conference to other provinces further away to ladies who are not usually able to attend.

What a privilege it has been to see the many ways the Lord has worked in this month that I've been back & can't wait to see his continued faithfulness.
