When God Pulls Through

With all the visa drama, it’s easy to questions at times what God is trying to accomplish or why he is allowing certain things to happen. We’ve all done it. We may not say it out loud or admit it to ourselves but we somehow think that we have a better way of doing things and if things had just gone according to our plans, everything would be peachy. But the fact is God’s God and we’re not and it turns out that nothing he does is without purpose.

About a week and a half ago, I had a breakfast meeting to share my ministry with someone. I had arranged to borrow a car from someone and was all set to pick up the keys from her at her office before taking off for my meeting. I got to her office that morning at the time we had planned and walked in to an empty office. I tried calling and messaging her but couldn’t get a hold of her. I thought to myself, “maybe she just stepped out of her office for a minute…she’ll be here soon”. I stepped across the hall to ask the lady sitting at her desk if she had seen the girl I was looking for. With a friendly smile, she replied that she hadn’t seen her and asked what I needed. I told her the situation and without hesitation she responded, “Well, if you can’t get a hold of her then please take my car. I’ve got plenty of gas and I don’t care at all.” I couldn’t believe what I just heard. This complete stranger just offered to loan me her car. Is this real life? She didn’t even know my name much less my driving abilities. After trying to reach this girl a few more times without an answer and now in a bit of a frenzy about being late for my meeting, I happily accepted the offer of the lady across the hall. We exchanged names and then she handed me her car keys and I was off.

In that moment as I drove down the road, I couldn’t help but be overwhelmed by the Lord’s provision. God showed me in a real and tangible way that he can take my efforts and well-calculated plans, flip them upside down, and remind me of his faithfulness. God pulled through for me in a way that reminded me of his love for me and my complete dependence on him. Without that change of plans, I wouldn’t have had the joy and blessing of seeing God be God in this situation. He provided for me in multiple ways; he first brought me to that office where I thought I would be borrowing one car, provided me with another car, and later with a new supporter.

In the past few days, when I have started to feel discouraged, the Lord has brought this incident to mind and has reminded me that he always has my back. I can face bumps along the way knowing that God is paving the road ahead of me. So as I look ahead with a grateful and hopeful heart, I can go in confidence knowing that God will provide me with the visa and support I need in his way and his timing. He always pulls through just in time…his time. I have no reason to question.
