This Gypsy's Settling Down
As you may know, I began this journey overseas 3 years ago when I began a two year Cross-Cultural Internship with Word of Life. This program gave me the opportunity to have on the field missions experience while completing my college degree online. My plan going into the program was to complete both years in the Thailand but the Lord had other plans. While I did get to spend some time serving in Thailand, the Lord closed the doors for me to stay and instead, led me to South Africa for the second year of my internship. While this was a difficult transition, considering that my heart was so set on reaching the people in Thailand, God was clearly orchestrating every step along the way. One year in South Africa turned into two and needless to say, I had fallen in love with South Africa and its people.
Forever Changed
Over the past 6 months, I have been thinking and praying about returning to South Africa as a full-time missionary. The Lord has taught me and grown me immensely over the past two years that I have spent serving in South Africa. I have been challenged in ways that I never expected, been exposed to many different cultures and peoples, seen God do extraordinary things in the lives of others, and have come out of this experience a different person.Steps of faith
The Lord has given me a deep passion and desire to serve the people of South Africa and be a part of what God is doing there. After much prayer and seeking counsel, I decided to take a step of faith and applied with Word of Life to be a full-time missionary to South Africa. In January, I took part in missionary candidate training and was accepted as a full-time missionary. I am thrilled to begin this new chapter and look forward to the adventure that lies ahead.
Next Steps
In order to return to South Africa, I must reapply for a visa as well as raise additional funds. I will be spending the coming months working towards these goals and traveling around the US and Bahamas to share what God is doing through the ministry of WOL in South Africa and how you can be a part of it. My goal is to return to South Africa in May of this year. I look forward to opportunities to share my ministry and anticipate God doing great things!
